5 Ways to Help You Sleep, Defeat Tiredness and Boost Energy

Are you tired? Sluggish? Don’t have enough energy to get through the day? Can’t sleep at night? This is a growing trend in todays society. So whats different now as opposed to earlier years? More hours at work? More stress in your life?

Maybe You are Lacking Enough Melatonin

Melatonin is known to help you sleep. It is secreted by your pineal glad, which is a tiny gland in your brain. Melatonin helps your body clock or circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm helps the body go to sleep and tell the body when to wake up. It also plays a role in regulating reproductive hormones in females.

Melatonin receptors are found in the brain as well as the ovaries, blood vessels and intestines. So melatonin helps regulate the timing, length and frequency of menstrual cycles in women. Melatonin also has anti-aging properties. It acts as an antioxidant which will neutralize harmful oxidative radicals.

Electronics Are Making You Tired

Electronic waves decrease melatonin in your body. Do you have a cell phone and/or electronic tablet or computer. How often are you on your phone? How often are you watching tv or playing on a computer or tablet? Do you have wifi in your house? Do you live under power lines? All these waves bombard the body and have a negative effect on us.

You need to limit “screen time”. Don’t sleep with your phone next to your head. Don’t use your cell phone as your alarm clock. (But it’s convenient, you say. I don’t care!)

Cell phones and wifi are a non-ionizing radio frequency. So they are a low dose frequency. BUT in todays society the amount of waves around us constantly is crazy! We can’t get away from them. Most public building have wifi available. Everyone has a cell phone on their person at all times.

All this is causing a decrease in melatonin = no energy, can’t sleep at night, and always feeling tired.

 So what can we do?

  1. You need to get adjusted by a chiropractor. The chiropractic adjustment resets the brain, which regulates all the hormones and essential nutrients in the body.
  2. Limit screen time. Get a real alarm clock. Charge your phone on the other side of the room from you. Turn off the wifi in your house.
  3. Start eating healthier. 80% of the time you should eat “good”, clean, nutritious, healthy food. This allows you to splurge 20% of the time to be bad. So out of every 21 meals you can have a small sweet, bread, or fried food with 4 meals.
  4. Exercise! Get moving. Movement is essential to energy production. Exercise releases endorphins (the feel good hormone) and gets more oxygen to the brain and other organs.
  5. Lastly, if the first 4 things don’t help regulate your energy levels and sleep then you can start supplementing with melatonin.

Other benefits of melatonin include protection of the nerve cells, as melatonin is a powerful antioxidant, several anti-cancer properties, and is currently being investigated for its role in fighting breast cancer. It does not appear to have much of an effect on lean mass or body fat, but it potentially stops your body from gaining more fat. It can also benefit eye health, possibly reduces tinnitus, and improve mood.
