Coronavirus Hype

Have you heard of a little virus called the Coronavirus yet? I’m pretty positive you have unless you’re living under a rock. There are actually many strains of Coronavirus. The one they are hyping up right now is COVID-19. They are quarantining anyone who has come in contact with someone with it, as well as, instilling mass hysteria!

COVID-19 started in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Investigations are ongoing as to how this virus originated and spread. Symptoms are showing up within 14 days of being exposed to the virus and are cough, shortness of breath and a fever.

The virus that causes COVID-19 is similar to the one that caused the 2003 SARS outbreak: both are types of coronaviruses. Much is still unknown, but COVID-19 seems to spread faster than the 2003 SARS and also may cause less severe illness.

Prevention

The media and the CDC is telling everyone to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, don’t touch your face and to make sure you wash your hands frequently for 20 seconds or more. These are all great ideas and things to do, but we all really need to boost our immune system. Not only for the “coronavirus” but for illness in general during cold outbreaks.

My suggestion to all my patients (and anyone who will listen to me) is to start supplementing with Vitamin D, Vitamin C and zinc. You want to look at vitamins that boost the immune system. When your immune system is at its optimal level, you can fight off illnesses such as the flu, any colds and yes coronavirus!

Low levels of vitamin D have been associated with frequent infections. In 2009, the National Institute of Health warned that low vitamin D levels are associated with frequent colds and influenza. The recommended daily dose of vitamin D3 is 300-4,000 IU.

During illnesses it is a good idea to take zinc. You can take up to 30 mg of zinc a day, but if zinc is taken for longer periods of time you can lose your sense of smell. So, short time frames are better than continuous use, unlike Vitamin C. Vitamin C can be taken daily and is not only an immune booster, but a connective tissue healer. If you bruise easily, consider taking vitamin C daily as well!

Lastly, drink water, stay away from sugar, fast food, smoking, drinking,
(you know everything that is unhealthy). When you are healthy and functioning better you will not get sick like the unhealthy individuals around you.

Chiropractic

I’ve said it multiple times in most of my blogs, the chiropractic adjustment boosts your immune system. When your nervous system is functioning the best that it can, you aren’t as susceptible to getting sick. Chiropractic is much more than just “pain” care. It is a way of life that can cause you to be involved in your own health!

If you have any questions on how to boost your immune system with chiropractic care give us or a chiropractor near you a call. Be active in your own health. Wellness care is way cheaper than “sick care”.

Unfortunately, the WHO and virologists have confirmed that this is a very serious pandemic. There is no one on the train between Manhattan and Washington DC. The smart people are staying away from large crowds. A little Vitamin C won’t do much this time, darling!

Well, then you have bought into the hype. I’m all for being cautious, but as long as my immune system is boosted, I am not worried at all about my (or my families) health. Eat healthy, drink water, get enough rest, and wash your hands. Just like any other virus that goes around, the unhealthy are more prone to it. There is already a coronavirus vaccine that is bypassing trials that “usually” happen. Hype it up more, more people will go run and get the vaccine. Follow the money.
