Pepper Jelly Recipes You Haven’t Thought Of

Pepper jelly is a hot topic again, with people seeking out recipes they’ve never tried before or new and inventive ways to enjoy this mix of sweetness and heat. Fortunately for us, there are dozens of new recipes sparking every single day.  Whether you want a cool treat on a summer day or you want something that will spice up your Thursday night dinner: these are all fantastic options.

Spunky Ham and Cheese Tortilla Pinwheels

Pinwheels are a general food that can be made out of anything.  From pinwheel cookies to salmon and cream cheese savory pinwheels, it shouldn’t be a surprise that this trend hit pepper jelly!  To make a pepper jelly pinwheel, you need a tortilla, some meats and cheeses of your choice, and of course- pepper jelly.  Lay your tortilla out flat, and spread pepper jelly across it in a thin layer.  Then, add slices of cheese and meat until it’s all one thin flat wrap.  Wrap it into a tight tube shape, then stick in toothpicks every inch or two.  Cut between the toothpicks, and then enjoy!  These are great for a party.

Spicy Peanuts and Almonds

When it comes to a calorie and protein-dense snack, there’s nothing better than peanuts and almonds!  To make spicy sweet peanuts or almonds, preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and toss the nuts with one tablespoon of jelly per one cup of nuts.  Lay aluminum foil out on a baking sheet, and spread the nuts out thinly.  Bake for half an hour or until the nuts are coated and mostly dry.  If you like them tacky or sticky, you can take them out here; otherwise, let them go for another twenty minutes to dry them out.  These are a flavorful and delicious snack you can take anywhere.

Delicious Sweet and Spicy Veggies

This recipe is easy but is also a crowd favorite!  To create sweet and spicy veggies, take the time to mix a quarter cup of pepper jelly with a quarter cup of vegetable or other neutral oil.  Toss your vegetable of choice in it, ensure that it’s cut into bite-sized pieces, and then bake in one flat layer at four hundred.  After fifteen minutes of baking, take them out, flip them, and then bake for another ten to fifteen minutes.  Keep a close eye on them at the end to ensure that they don’t burn.  Burning may make them taste bitter.

After perfectly cooking them, they’ll come out a little crispy and extremely flavorful.  These go very well with sausage, chicken, or even fish.  Although the top choice for this is broccoli, you can replicate it with nearly any vegetable you want to eat.

Pepper jelly isn’t just a spread for bread and crackers!  Go a little outside of your comfort zone, and try some nontraditional ways to cook it.  If you don’t like a recipe, it’s easy enough to move on and try the next one instead of feeling defeated.  Trying new dishes widens your horizons, and you won’t be disappointed!
