How to Improve Your Health

Improving your health and well being shouldn’t be done with a pill or an unnatural method. This is something you should do as naturally as possible. It’s all too easy to take a pill and believe that our problems will disappear, but they will still be there under the surface.

This isn’t to say medication is a no-go for everybody – it’s important for some. Medication has a time and place, but most of the time they should be for short time periods so you can work through any issue you’re having (unless its life saving medicine).

There are a few things that you can instantly change to make your life healthier so you can live longer. They are all simple, but you have to want to be healthy and care about how you’re treating your body.

Eat fruits and veggies

The foods we eat make the biggest difference to our bodies. Eating like junk makes you feel like junk! You will feel bloated, sluggish, brain foggy, cranky, have less energy, and hungrier as junk food doesn’t truly fill us up.

When you eat proper balanced meals with nutritious food, you’ll stay fuller for longer, have far more energy, your mood will get better, you will feel “skinny” and not bloated. Eating healthy makes you feel so good! Stay away from “whites”, white sugar, white flour, white pasta. Stay away from packaged meals, and ultra-processed food. Just shop the perimeter of the grocery store and stay out of the aisles!

Drink Plenty of Water

Water should be your drink of choice! Caffeine based drinks dehydrate you, causing your skin to become dry and your system not work properly. You should drink about half your body weight in ounces of water a day.

If you have anything other than water, make sure you add another glass of water! Whatever you do, avoid sugary drinks and energy drinks, as they can cause jitteriness and other health issues.

Get Plenty Of Quality Sleep

Quality sleep is important, so make sure you’re making it a priority. Go to bed at the same time every night, and get up at the same time every morning. Turn off the electronics before you try to go to sleep. Figure out how much sleep helps you to function best.

For example, are you at your best after a solid 8 hours? More? Less? In general, you should never get less than 6 hours sleep, as studies suggest this is just as bad as not getting any. The only time our bodies heal is when we sleep.

Exercise

You can’t claim you hate exercise when you haven’t experienced some of the incredible benefits that it can give us. Getting sweaty can be uncomfortable at first, but what about that rush of endorphins afterwards? What about noticing changes in your mood, mind, and body permanently? What about staying healthy and living a longer life?

You don’t have to go to the gym to get your 30 minutes a day in. Turn on YouTube and check out some work out videos, yoga, kettlebells. Get outside and walk around the neighborhood. Find a dance class close to you. Exercising only 30 minutes a day improves your heart health, aides in weight loss, reduces stress, mood booster, improves memory, and increases productivity (to name a few).

Laugh More

Laughter is a must. If you’re not laughing enough, figure out what’s missing from your life. Maybe you need to spend more time around the people you love, or you need to stop taking life so seriously. Maybe you need to leave your job that’s causing more problems than it’s worth. Maybe you need to join a class or start a new hobby. If you don’t make a change, then nothing else will change.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is much more than just a pain reliever. Chiropractic helps your body function at its optimal level. The chiropractic adjustment resets the brain, which regulates all the hormones and essential nutrients in the body. It also boosts the immune system to help you feel your best.

Maintenance care or once a month adjustments helps make sure that the body is moving optimally. Movement helps with blood flow, energy, and decreasing risk of degeneration. Adjustments can also help you sleep better, feel better and in turn when you feel better you can exercise and want to eat better!

If you want help starting to become a healthier you give us or a chiropractor near you a call! Chiropractors can help you establish an exercise and/or diet program! Having someone to keep you on track can help you reach your goals quicker.
